Ricci was first recognized as a young child actress in her role as Wednesday Addams as well as Addams Family Values (both 1993) in The Addams Family and as Kat Harvey, in Casper. Ricci was able to begin playing adult roles in The Ice Storm (1997), and then The Opposite of Sex, in which Ricci got the Golden Globe Award nomination as Best Actress. It was a huge success that continued after her roles on Sleepy Hollow (1998) and Monster (2003).
